Mentoring a Refugee Family

When a refugee family arrives in Arizona, one of the greatest gifts you can offer is a familiar face and a steady presence. Our Mentor Program connects community volunteers with newly arrived refugee families to help them navigate life in their new home, from grocery runs and bus routes to building friendships that last well beyond the program.

Mentoring doesn't require any special skills. It just requires time, consistency, and a genuine desire to help someone feel they belong.

Program Details

  • Attend the Welcome Party to meet your refugee friend(s)
  • Connect weekly with your refugee friend (every other week in person, otherwise can be virtual)
  • Fill out a 5-minute monthly report, including a picture
  • 3 month commitment
  • Attend the Friendship Party to end the program and share about your mentoring experience
